No one got to the root of this problem yet? It's still happening.
I started installing using YaST and where the version lists both x86_64 and
i586, I tick x86_64, but it still upgrades to the i586 version.
This creates a mess, zypper dup doesn't tell you until too late that i586 is
going being installed and there is no way of telling what package is installed
other than by "rpm -ql <package>" to discover if libs go in /usr/lib or
/usr/lib64. As mentioned above "rpm -qi" no longer reports on the build
architecture.
Can someone look at the rationale for these changes which do not make any
sense, I'd like to know what these changes hoped to achieve other than
confusion and mis-steps. Why is zypper giving me i586 packages when the same
x86_64 packages exist?
