https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441500 Summary: Insufficient documentation of NetworkManager Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: tambet@novell.com ReportedBy: jkupec@novell.com QAContact: ke@novell.com CC: behlert@novell.com, mvidner@novell.com, mzugec@novell.com, cthiel@novell.com, kmachalkova@novell.com Found By: --- A newcomer to NetworkManager, has a hard time getting information to get NetworkManager work. Namely: - man NetworkManager, nm-tool are very brief. They should contain, or _at least_ refer to detailed information like: - what is the purpose of files under /etc/Networkmanager - what settings are available in /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf and the other files. What are their valid values. - how to switch between manual/via-dhcp configuration of host name, domain name, DNS server - man NetworkManagerDispatcher does not even exist, but is refered to by both NetworkManager and nm-tool man page. http://en.opensuse.org/Projects/KNetworkManager also says there is only "few documentation bits available" and references http://www.redhat.com/magazine/003jan05/features/networkmanager/ and http://www.gnome.org/projects/NetworkManager/ which still do not contain the information i mention above. NetworkManager-doc also does not contain this info, it just contains a few libnm-glib reference doc. Since we are enabling NetworkManager on openSUSE 11.1 (for notebooks) and SLED11 by default, it should be properly documented. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
