https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441313 Summary: When upgrade from openSUSE 11.0, installing kernel reports mount error. Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Beta4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pwu@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I have a separate partition for /boot. When upgrade kernel, it fails and reports "/boot directory is not mounted". The cause of the problem is that, in /etc/mtab, the content is: rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0 tmpfs / tmpfs rw,size=0k,nr_inodes=0 0 0 tmpfs / tmpfs rw,size=0k,nr_inodes=0 0 0 proc /proc proc rw 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs rw 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts rw 0 0 /dev/sda3 /mnt ext3 rw 0 0 sysfs /mnt/sys sysfs rw 0 0 /dev/sda6 /mnt/home ext3 rw 0 0 /dev/sda7 /mnt/media/data ext3 rw 0 0 /dev/sda8 /mnt/media/sled10 ext3 rw 0 0 /proc /mnt/proc proc rw 0 0 /dev/sda2 /mnt/boot ext3 rw 0 0 /dev /mnt/dev none rw,bind 0 0 but the content of /mnt/etc/mtab is: /dev/sda3 / ext3 rw,acl,user_xattr 0 0 /proc /proc proc rw 0 0 sysfs /sys sysfs rw 0 0 debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs rw 0 0 udev /dev tmpfs rw 0 0 devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,mode=0620,gid=5 0 0 securityfs /sys/kernel/security securityfs rw 0 0 I manually add the /boot entry in /mnt/etc/mtab, the warning disappears, and installed successfully. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
