The setup is quite basic.
I have an HP2133 on which I installed OpenSuse 11 before heading off to africa.
I configured a fair number of repositories, but missed the one for
OpenOffice.org. So I was running OOo 2.4.0 until this weekend, when someone on
the mailing list pointed me in the correct direction and I upgraded to 3.0

The only things I have taken from the repositories were updates and Adobe
acrobat reader 8, until I upgraded to OOo 3.

I still have config directories for OOo 2 in my home directory.

I had re-created my login from scratch more than once (bug 403727), and had
always seen the curve editor behaviour under OOo 2.4.0. There was a similar
shift-key related problem - elipses or squares inserted could not have their
aspect ratio changed without pressing shift - this one went away when I
installed 3.0, but the curve editor one did not!

As per bug 439568 your fresh user trick has fixed this.

I am happy that this was, somehow, a bum installation of 2.4 that got copied
when I upgraded.
