Summary: hard to reply to notification mails
Product: openSUSE.org
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: BuildService
AssignedTo: freitag@novell.com
ReportedBy: poeml@novell.com
QAContact: adrian@novell.com
Found By: ---
I have got a mail containing the following:
<--------------------------------------
Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2008 01:51:37 UT
From: hermes@opensuse.org
To: Susanne Oberhauser ,
Mauro Parra Miranda ,
Michael Schroeder , Marcus Schaefer ,
poeml@suse.de
Subject: New submit-request #2888 for openSUSE:Tools/osc
X-Mailer: openSUSE Notification System
submit-request from: mpmiranda
[... skipped the rest]
-------------------------------------->
The sender is "hermes@opensuse.org", and if I hit reply in my mail
program it'll try to respond to hermes@opensuse.org instead of the
person which initiated the request. It is cumbersome to pick the right
email adress from the header to find the person to reply to. In the
above case, I need to guess that "Mauro Parra Miranda
" is the email address of "mpmiranda". I actually
failed to find it at all, but on third look.
Please send the mail with From set to the initiating users email
address. If that doesn't work for some unknown reasons, you could least
set the Reply-to to this address.
Having a proper From (as CVS or SVN mails typically have) also allows to
see the sender in MUAs without opening the mails. This again would make
it easier to follow threads and structure in the mass of notification
mails that one can get.
