https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=437796 Summary: Rescue system does not mount/keep kernel modules; cannot mount XFS Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: matt@genesi-usa.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Booting a rescue system on Pegasos and also tested on i386 using manual boot - boot line for reference on Pegasos; boot cd inst32 rescue=http://powerpc.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss When inside the rescue system you cannot mount XFS filesystems because the XFS kernel module isn't loaded. When browsing to the kernel module location, it can be seen that all kernel modules are symlinked to some other initrd image # cd /lib/modules/2.6.27.1-2-default/initrd # ls -l xfs.ko blah blah blah xfs.ko -> /parts/mp_000/lib/modules/2.6.27.1-2-default/initrd/xfs.ko Obviously this means any kernel modules to be loaded from the initrd must be loaded from the pre-install expert menu, however when rescue= is supplied on the kernel boot arguments this step is obviously skipped making an automated rescue attempt from CD or boot menu useless. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
