https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=437012 Summary: Nfs mount of multi-homed server delayed by approx. 20 seconds Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: walter.zimmer@dlr.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- We have the following problem: When mounting an NFS directory, we see a delay of approx. 20 seconds. This affects us, as we get our home directories via NFS. Wireshark told us that a request goes out to the (Solaris) NFS server, and a reply comes back, but from another IP address as the request went to (multi-homed server), which is answered with an ICMP "Port Unreachable" by the NFS client. After 20 secs, the client gives up and seems to mount it via TCP without problems. Working with the mounted dir afterwards poses no problems at all, just the mount is slow. Interesting is that the initial 11.0 release does not show this behaviour (it accepts that the request is answered by another IP address), although both are supposed to have nfs utils 1.1.2. A quick compilation of the now current nfs utils 1.1.4 and trying that mount.nfs shows that mounting is instantaneous again. Therefore, this behaviour must have been triggered by some OpenSuSE update of mount.nfs (it now shows a modification date of Aug 15 2008, 02:25 in /sbin). Any feedback what we have to do to get back to the original behavior is very much appreciated! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
