He Ke,
To make sure this isn't a particular misconfiguration of one machine, I've now
tried this on three different machines (all x86_64 machines with OpenSuse 11.0
plus updates, scim, and KDE), and all three machines show the same annoying
symptoms, regardless if it's OO.o 3.0 or 2.4. I tried with a new created user
so that any globbered settings can't affect it, either - the problem still is
there.
Once again, you have to make two things happen: When you change something in
the dialog box, change it *by using the keyboard*. E.g. if you select a cell in
oocalc and change the formatting, don't just click on a different item, edit
the formatting string with the keyboard (e.g. by pressing '0' to add a trailing
digit). Then close the dialog box by pressing the return key. If you either
make the change by mouse clicks or exit the dialog box by clicking ok, nothing
bad happens. Even if you do clicks on some other buttons after the text input
(like adding the just edited format string to the list of possible formats by
clicking on the green tick box), you "spoil" the effect. It is sufficient if
the last change inside the dialog box happend by keyboard (e.g. adding '0' to
the format string), and then press return - you can do as many clicks before as
you like.
