https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=436524 Summary: autologin - somewhat broken ... Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mmeeks@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- So - in this beta and previously autologin hasn't worked (it seems); I enabled it with a tweaked custom.conf. *unfortunately* the new auto-login not only performs poorly, but occurs -every- time you hit gdm. This contrasts substantially with previous behavior where you could log out, and gdm would then let you tweak your settings, and/or log in as a different user. ie. Autologin only happened during boot / on first start. Sadly - with gdm if you enable auto-login; "Fast user switching" is more like "fast re-auto-login-as-myself-on-a-different-X-display", and of course (apparently) you simply can't change your default / saved session, as logging out to gdm, immediately logs you in again as yourself ;-) This is sub-optimal to say the least; and (I guess) is the default "[x] Autologin" for OpenSUSE 11.1 I guess the fix involves having some special "first time" state that we push into the main gdm daemon on 1st start; which is used to auto-log-us-in only that once; on boot. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
