https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=432304 Summary: Update from Beta1 to Factory with zypper dup changes arch of rpm from x86_64 to i586 Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: 64bit OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: markus.kossmann@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=243495) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=243495) Files for debugging the problem. To get a new factory installation I started with an installation of 11.1Beta1 X86_64 from DVD and replaced the DVD repo by a factory repo. Then I started "zypper dup". Looking at the textmessages I noticed that zypper intends to dowgrade rpm from the x86_64 version to the i586 version: [...] The following packages are going to change architecture: perl-Net-DNS zypper yelp yast2-ycp-ui-bindings yast2-xml yast2-users yast2-transfer yast2-storage-lib yast2-storage yast2-sound yast2-slp yast2-qt-pkg yast2-qt yast2-profile-manager yast2-pkg-bindings yast2-perl-bindings yast2-nis-client yast2-ncurses-pkg yast2-ncurses yast2-libyui yast2-ldap yast2-hardware-detection yast2-gtk yast2-core yast2-control-center-gnome xsane xchat wv wireless-tools vinagre ufraw-gimp ufraw totem-plugin totem-pl-parser totem t1lib silc-toolkit sg3_utils scpm sax2-libsax-perl sax2-libsax sax2-gui sax2 satsolver-tools sane-frontends sane-backends rpm-python rpm rarian pyxml python-xml python-satsolver python-qt4 [...] This is not an good idea, because once installed, the i586 version of rpm refuses to install x86_64 rpms and the update will be uncomplete. I attach a file debugdata.tar.gz which contains: directory zypp = /etc/zypp zypper.log = logfile created when running "zypper dup" zypper.output = Full textmessages of "zypper dup" directory zypper.solverTestCase = solver testcase -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
