I have a clear memory of 10.3 networking "just working" after I'd set DNS and
the default route (which I didn't do during install). I keep notes after every
installation, and my 10.3 notes say,
"To get the wireless working, you need to be careful at setup. First, you
need to explicitly add the wireless AP in the configuration
(00:16:B6:DA:77:AB), as we have no SSID broadcast. Second, you need to
explicitly add DNS as 192.168.1.1, as well as adding the default route
to 192.168.1.1. It may not be possible to add the default route during
installation(?). You can from YaST in the Network/Routes section."
I don't *remember* adding the scan mode by hand, but I haven't tried a 10.3
install/config of the wireless since either.
