First of all, these IERR messages do not appear to originate from any of the
software you installed with openSuSE - I have to believe that it's the firmware
(perhaps from System Management Mode) that generates these. Without knowing
what they mean we won't get very far here.
Nevertheless, while you find that out from Dell, there are a few things to try:
- As you said, attach a serial cable and a second system, and collect the Xen
output (add "console=vga,com1 com1=<baudrate>" to the Xen command line.
- Assuming that you added the "mem=1G" option to the second line (as
incorrectly indicated by the post you referenced) - try adding that line to the
first (Xen) line.
- Under the assumption that it's indeed the broadcom driver, why don't you
disable that driver temporarily to see whether that makes a difference? If it
turns out it isn't, other suspicious drivers could be tried (we'd need to see a
list of drivers loaded in a native boot to make recommendations).
- Finally, the obvious: Make sure you use the most current available updates
(you didn't even indicate what package versions you have in use).
