https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406157 Summary: Message boxes displayed during the update in Gnome cause confusion if user want see details Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: siegfried.olschner@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Fresh openSUSE 11 installation with Gnome only. 2 updates meanwhile, I wanted to see the files before starting the update process. In the following sequence 3 dialog boxes are used where I would use only one. => a lot of unnecessary visual noise is produced, the update seems to be a complex and nervous thing. 1. Dialog box ("Update System") will pop up. Click onto "Update System" button => dialog box will close. 2. New feedback box showing the file transfer and installation process feedback will pop up. - 1. Problem: The new box is moved to another place, it's not centered in the previous box - 2. Problem: The feedback bar moves the blue indicator area much to fast to the left and right, it should be more easy an smoth - 3. Problem: The width of the feedback window will vary depending on the length of the text, during an update with a lot of files the box will stay on the screen and will "wobble/flutter" (correct English?) After success the feedback box will close 3. The final feedback box will pop up - again at a different location I suggest to merge all three dialogs to one dialog. Perhaps it will be necessary to resize the box during the process. But this only from step 1 to step 2. I will add an attachment to illustrate the different pop up locations of the dialogs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
