https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=400249 Summary: no option to edit partition table Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: steve@kelem.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- During installation of 11.0, RC1, I didn't get the option of setting up the partitions. I had /boot on a separate disk and partition (/dev/hda8) from the linux installation (/dev/sda8) for my 10.1 installation. During 11.0RC1 installation, there was no opportunity to mount /dev/hda8 as /boot. During the 11.0RC1 Update phase, the boot manager is supposed to be installed. It chokes when it tries to write to /boot, which is a link to a place that isn't mounted: Error occurred whle installing GRUB. Unable to install the boot loader. I tried editing the sections (under Section Management): 1. I tried deleting the /boot link (Select a section, hit Edit, Browse, select /boot, hit Delete: Unable to delete directory.). I then tried creating a new directory, /boot.new. I then edited all the sections to point to /boot.new instead of /boot. When I tried to Finish, I got the error Error occurred whle installing GRUB. Unable to install the boot loader. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
