I was about to file this on kernel.org, but they don't seem to want bugs for anything but vanilla kernels. The problem I have is also present in vanilla kernels, though, although I have not tried a vanilla 2.6.25 -- I did try a slew of 2.6 kernels a while ago and the result was always the same. There has been some improvement in this kernel-version, though. It doesn't halt the bootup process and the load is not quite as high as it used to be when these messages show up. My problem is this: If I enable USB 2.0 I get these errors, regardless of which distribution I launch. If I set my bus to USB 1.1 in the BIOS, I don't get these errors. The only things I have connected to USB at the moment (externally) are my keyboard and an external harddisk. I need those. There are a couple of internal USB devices as well, though, as you'll see below. It seems like the problem is pretty much contained in kernel 2.6.25 (i.e. it doesn't slow the boot process that much and while the load is higher than it would be otherwise, it isn't something I notice, unless I look at top). I will attach the resulting kernel messages to this bug. It is too early to tell if my machine will eventually freeze. It usually happens within a week or two. I am not 100% sure if it is related to this, but the machine (prior to 2.6.25 at least) have seemed more stable when running in pure USB 1.1 mode, but USB disk access is a pain in that case.... I would hope to either find out why this message occurs and fix the problem (if at all possible) or have a way of blocking this particular message from dmesg and the logs as it makes finding other things in dmesg/messages quite difficult and increases the load on my machine needlessly (or so it seems). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
