https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=390160 Summary: acroread window not properly redrawn after a search Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Commercial AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sitsofe@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Description of the problem: After doing a search in acroread sometimes the window is not redrawn properly when the match is found leading to a white page with a block of highlighting but no visible text from the PDF itself. Steps to reproduce: You must have a monitor which is doing a resolution of 1600x1200. Smaller monitor resolutions (like 1280x1024) don't seem to reproduce the problem. You must not be using compiz as your window manager. The issue has only been tested with Xorg not XGL so XGL might not show the problem even when not using compiz. 1. Download the pgfmanual.pdf file which will be attached (if you have tex installed it can be found in /usr/share/texmf/doc/generic/pgf/version-for-pdftex/en/pgfmanual.pdf ) 2. Run acroread pgfmanual.pdf . 3. When acroread has loaded make sure its window is maximised. 4. Press Ctrl-F to switch to the find box. Type anchor and press return. 5. Press the Find Previous button. You should be moved from page 6 to page 327. 6. Press the Find Next button. Expected results: Page 6 to be displayed as it was at the end of step 4. Actual results: Page 6 to be displayed without any of the PDF's text visible but area where the word was found highlighted. Covering the window with another window and then reshowing it makes the text appear. How reproducible is the problem: With the right res it is reproducible every time (you can do previous then next search and the problem happens again). Additional information: Reproduced on a i586 distro. Using compiz will stop the problem from happening. Unreproducible at a resolution of 1280x1024 (although it has been seen very occasionally and is not reproducible).
