And btw. it's not the job of HAL to do network device specific handling like WEXT or SIOCSIWTXPOW or anything other that's not the sysfs (or e.g. the Dell handling) since we have NM for it. That's why we removed network related stuff from HAL: it's the job of NM. There is no reason to move it back. This all should IMO be done in NM and not HAL.
Nowhere in this discussion have I ever said that HAL should touch the wireless devices themselves with WEXT. That is, and has always been, the job of NetworkManager. I simply want HAL to consistently report the state of rfkill buttons so that _NM_ can do the WEXT poking.
