https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386487 Summary: shutdown destroys filesystem on sdhc-card installation Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tschaefer@t-online.de QAContact: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer I installed the opensuse 11 beta 2 dvd-version on an eeepc. Instead using the internal ssd/hd I installed Suse on an 8GB-SDHC-card(internal via USB connected). So far so good - without problems. (don't talk about wlan and some other issues) But after shutdown/reboot the filesystem is corrupt. After (switching on again) and booting - manually fsck is needed. This is reproducible. The only way to avoid this problem is to shutdown the following way: init s sync mount -o remount,ro / mount -o remount,ro /home halt I think it is a problem with usb-storage-drivers. Maybe some greater delays between some shutdown steps could solve the problem, or the kernel should make sure that all is written before he is killing himself.
