https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=382283 Summary: radeonrandr12 driver can not load module kernel itself Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Beta 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: zajec5@gmail.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer Driver "radeonrandr12" is 6.8.0 version of open driver for ATI cards. Driver "radeon" is version 6.6.3. This newer "radeonrandr12" introduces many improvements like better acceleration, more supported devices and randr12 support. I belive it's important to have nice support of this driver in openSUSE. I can easily generate xorg.conf for radeonrandr12 using SaX2: sax2 -r -m 0=radeonrandr Unfortunately after rebooting acceleration doesn't work. Part of Xorg.0.log is: drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address) drmOpenDevice: open result is -1, (No such device or address) drmOpenDevice: Open failed [drm] failed to load kernel module "radeonrandr12" (EE) RADEONRANDR12([dri] RADEONDRIGetVersion failed to open the DRM [dri] Disabling DRI. I notived that if I type commands: init 3 modprobe radeon init 5 X server starts fine with acceleration and using radeonrandr12. So I guess there was some mistake made when creating this radeonrandr12 (normally, it's just radeon driver, separated version doesn't exist).
