https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=378192 Summary: zypp should not try to fullfill reccommends of installed packages Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: crrodriguez@novell.com QAContact: dmacvicar@novell.com CC: benji@opensuse.org, guru@unixtech.be Found By: --- Affected versions: rpm -q libzypp zypper libzypp-4.8.0-2.1 zypper-0.10.5-2.3 Problem: zypp is currently trying to fullfill "Reccommends" of installed packages, let say: foo.rpm Reccommends bar.rpm , you remove bar.rpm because it is not a hard depedency, but on "zypper up" bar.rpm will get installed again, this is clearly the wrong thing. it should do that only when foo.rpm is going to be installed and if and only if: a) foo.rpm is not a resolvable of type "patch", otherwise on mainteniance update, people will install software not previously installed. AND: b) when you install a new version of "foo.rpm" and the old "foo.rpm" didint Reccommended bar.rpm. So, no surprises found later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
