https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=372061 Summary: default .profile script exits with exit code of 1 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ibodog@bitstream.net QAContact: ibodog@bitstream.net Found By: Other There is only 1 uncommented line in the default .profile file for users: test -z "$PROFILEREAD" && . /etc/profile While this is very concise, unfortunately most often this results in the profile script exiting with a code of 1. The impact of this is that it may appear to anyone that is checking that something went wrong in the login. Especially if they did a "su - username" and then "echo $?". The man page for su says that an exit code of 1 for su is a failure of su. It would be better to put this profile check into an if-then construct so there is clean exit from the default .profile script. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
