I'm going to close this as INVALID. It seems like the original problem was
caused by flaky media.
The message about the partition table is issued because USB floppies are
handled by usb-storage, which also handles things like external hard drives. If
you were to use a legacy floppy drive, the partition table wouldn't have been
scanned at all.
Spamming the syslog isn't friendly, but the benefit of silencing a single log
message doesn't really justify the work involved to do it. If you feel strongly
about it, we'd accept a patch once it's in mainline.
