https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=362488 Summary: Strange ethernet configuration, ghost adapter Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: stajin@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Other Yast creates a network entry that can neither be configured or deleted and also misconfigures the entry it creates (correct configuration is listed but has zero effect outside of Yast) - If I add my Marvell 8001 to it (Yast) remembers it but ifconfig does not show any other interface but lo. Yast also refuses to set up this card correctly, gives the error SIOCSIFFLAGS invalid argument upon ifconfig eth0 up (on the times it actually shows up!). Normal resolutions such as pci=noacpi, bios settings for irq, etc have no effect. It's quite a strange bug as reinstalling can sometimes fix the bug-usually if the option to add online repositories is selected-setting the card up there seems to raise the success. This bug also appeared under 10.2 but not 10.1 on this system. NIC is SYSKONNECT Marvell/Yukon Onboard RDK 8001 on an Epox 8hDA5j. Configuration is IRQ 18 shared with Radeon 9700 (same as windows, do not believe irq sharing is the problem). Ubuntu picks up the NIC even under a LiveCD, it appears this is a problem with Yast - manually reconfiguration can -sometimes- fix this. As a side note this card always requires a static IP be set, even with windows drivers, unknown reason. Links to a netgear dg834G, cabled RJ45. The configuration error has been reported in Fedora as well (as I saw on google when researching) although obviously this has nothing to do with yast malfunctioning but might help you get Yast to configure correctly. Also the information window on the anomalous entry states cannot configure this as kernel module is not loaded - also allows no pressing of ANY buttons - such as delete, configure etc. and shows no other information. after that it lists cards as eth-eth0 rather than eth0. not sure if that's normal or not. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
