https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=361866 Summary: Installation hangs on host setup Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Alpha 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sloncho@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I tried to install opensuse 11.0 alpha 2 on VMWare virtual machine. The host is Opensuse 10.3. The VM is set with 512M RAM, and 5G hdd. The CD is mapped to the install iso. The first part of the installation passed ok, and after a reboot, it asked for root password, and then for host name and domain. I entered the host name and the domain, and unchecked "change with DHCP". Write changes in /etc/hosts is checked. After I clicked "Next", above the progress bar is written "Updating /etc/hosts", it stays at 0%, and hangs there for almost 1/2 hour already. I can not switch to a virtual TTY, so I do not know if I'll be able to get some log files. Should I reboot and try again. Will I be able to get the proper log files if it succeeds the second time, so the problem can be ivestigated? What other data I can provide?
