I think adding smart caches outside of the chroot is not a good thing.
The problem is that you can build for different versions of suse linux and
if a cache is used which doesn't fit the distribution repository this could
cause problems and the cache needs to be recreated anyway.
* As you additionally can have multiple combinations of repositories a cache
seems to be unique for the specified image description.
* Caches outside the chroot also waste a lot of space and may not be used
more than once
* If the cache is created from the beginning on within the chroot you have at
least one smart update less than before
I will give it a test with having caches inside the chroot
