I'm using kernel 2.6.24-rc2-git4-2-default on a ThinkPad T43P.
The current kernel config, presents 2 batteries to the system even though I
only have one.

The kernel is reporting two battery devices, one from /proc/acpi/battery/X (old
interface) and one from /sys/class/power_supply (new interface):
