Output of udevtrigger --verbose (as root)
Booted into runlevel 5 and verified that /proc/asound does not exist. Then
became root and executed udevtrigger --verbose. This resulted in a list of
devices printed out - see attachment. In a second, "SuSE Hardware Detection"
window popped up, claiming that new hardware was found, and offered to
configure the network card interface - which, BTW, is already configured and is
working perfectly. I closed the window, and the KDE NetworkManager applet
reacquired a DHCP address. /proc/asound still missing. I did notice that
hal-setup-keymap crashed as a result of running udevtrigger --verbose by
looking at the output of dmesg:
hal-setup-keyma[10899]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002b554695cfa3 rsp
00007fff64827ad8 error 4
