I wouldn't say that they are not interesting to opensuse users.
-Lenovo for example, is a extremely popular notebook line and happens to be one
of the few venders that offer SLED on their systems. Many owners who have
bought these laptops have upgraded them to use openSuSE 10.3. I'm one for
example.
-The Compiz vt-switching bug fix effects many users as well as many of
openSUSE's use compiz. It's a advertised/promoted feature of opensuse. If a
driver improves the experience of it then it should be repackaged and put in
the repository.
-The improvements to mode setting support on the Quadro cards are welcome as
well. They are not exclusive to the high end Quadro cards but cover the entry
level cards as well. These cards are commanly used for systems running Pro/E,
maya, and other high end applications as well. They also cover the Quadro NVS
cards that are used in many portables from Dell, Levono, and HP.
For the few minutes it takes to create the rpm's, it really shouldn't be a
matter of package creation won't be done because of one persons "don't sound
that interesting" evaluation. It was certianly interesting enough to prompt
nvidia putting out a new driver. Obviously they have had reports back to them
on the issues and have corrected it. I would suggest that if the vender feels
it is important enought to put out a new driver then it should also be at least
important enough to create new rpms in the repo.
