https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335695 Summary: dependency conflict warning should offer "cancel last operation" Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: carlos.lange@ualberta.ca QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- As conflict resolution becomes more complex, many users are not prepared or do not want to deal with it. But after setting an update or a remove, YaST does not offer an easy way to undo the setting. Case in point: when I chose to update Amarok with Packman's repository, I got these conflicts: libtunepimp5-mad cannot be installed due to missing dependencies There are no installable providers [...] Conflict Resolution: ( ) Install libtunepimp5 although it would change the vendor ( ) do not install libtunepimp5-mad ( ) Ignore this requirement just here libtunepimp5-mp4 cannot be installed due to missing dependencies There are no installable providers [...] Conflict Resolution: ( ) Install libtunepimp5 although it would change the vendor ( ) do not install libtunepimp5-mp4 ( ) Ignore this requirement just here Notice that these don't mention Amarok or offer to just keep Amarok without update. When I decide not to deal with it and hit [Cancel], it only cancels the Warning and keeps the Update flag in Amarok. I have to remember to change the status to Keep. A similar problem happens if you accidentally left-click on an Update and change status to Remove. You can make the Warning window go away with [Cancel], but you have to click the package once more to change it to Keep. In this case there is the option "keep Amarok" 3 times in the Warning, but I think that, for an unexperienced user, a button or a single option to "cancel last operation" right at the top is much more meaningful and convenient. I could easily tell a newby the general rule: "In case of conflict, hit the 'Cancel Last Operation' button or option", instead of "Look for an option to keep the package you just selected and OK, or Cancel and right-click to change the status back to Keep". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
