https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334504 Summary: evolution and some other apps gets stuck while "formatting message" Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME - Platform AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome-platform@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sbrabec@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- We got this message via distributor-list@gnome.org: Hi, Both Firefox and Evolution recently hit this bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=463430 I'd like to ask distributions to pick up the patch for their supported distros. It's in pango 1.18.1+, and should apply cleanly to pango 1.16.x and 1.14.x inside pango/pango/harfbuzz. Older versions need a bit porting as I renamed files/API in that directory. Thanks, -- behdad ----------- I have seen this problem (evolution hang) on 10.2 and older many times, so it would be really nice to fix it for all affected products. Details from upstream Bugzilla: When I select a specific message coming from a known provider, the program tries to preview it, with no result. It remains stuck, with a "formatting message" info at the bottom and no part of Evolution can be used any more. If I ask for Gnome System Monitor, it appears that one of the two CPU's is totally taken by the process (100% usage). After 1h it was still stuck. On the contrary, there is no apparent HD usage. The problem is that if I forcedly close Evolution, while opening it again, it reverts to the same message, with no possibility of exiting the deadlock. Just out of curiosity, I tried watching the mail with Balsa client, and it got stuck the same way on the same message!! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
