--- Comment #1 from Georg Müller 2007-10-08 05:24:25 MST ---
I forgot to mention the used file systems:
/dev/sda1 is a brand new ext3
dmesg:
EXT3 FS on sda1, internal journal
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
/dev/sda2 is a reiserfs from a previous openSUSE 10.2 installation
dmesg for this:
REISERFS (device sda2): found reiserfs format "3.6" with standard journal
REISERFS (device sda2): using ordered data mode
reiserfs: using flush barriers
REISERFS (device sda2): journal params: device sda2, size 8192, journal first
block 18, max trans len 1024, max batch 900, max commit age
30, max trans age 30
REISERFS (device sda2): checking transaction log (sda2)
REISERFS (device sda2): Using r5 hash to sort names
drive-related dmesg output:

Running "sync" from console works (except when the system hangs on a sync, then
whis sync also hangs)
