https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=306240 Summary: zypper/YaST gives bad info on package install Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: kkaempf@novell.com ReportedBy: ajohansson@novell.com QAContact: kkaempf@novell.com Found By: --- At the time of writing, the package vm-install is missing from FACTORY, and that was my only installation repository for 10.3b2. The package virt-manager has a hard dependency on vm-install When trying to install virt-manager using YaST or zypper, the only message given to the user is that the package couldn't be installed. Only when installing by hand with rpm could I see that the reason was that vm-install was missing. After finding and installing vm-install by hand, zypper and YaST were able to install virt-manager and the remaining dependencies The installer needs to show more clearly why a package can't be installed. If there is a missing dependency, it should be printed. If the package is bad (bad signature, md5 etc) that needs to be shown. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
