https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=305201 Summary: wlan / ieee80211stack - use of non-FCC radio channels not possible Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.bolsch@alumni.tu-berlin.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other Refers to kernel 2.6.22.3-3: ieee80211_ioctl.c allows only setting of regulatory domain to either FCC or MKK (later probably refers to Japan). The former allows allows channels 1-11, the latter 1-14, whereas in the EU channels 1-13 are available for public use in the 2.4GHz range. Using MKK allows 1-13, but is to restrictive in the 5GHz range ... Consequently setting an rt2500-based card to channel 13 (via iwconfig) is rejected. Simply patching ieee80211_ioctl.c line 398 to { 2412, 2462, 27, 6 } instead of { 2412, 2462, 27, 6 } makes the card working on channel 13 (almost) flawlessly with rt2x00-cvs-2007081906. Unfortunately, the matrix of allowed channels and corresponding power settings vs. regulatory domains seems to be a real mess, I wan't able to find comprehensive information, otherwise I would gladly supply a complete patch for the most important domains. Additionally, it is not clear to me how the allowed power settings are to be encoded. And, which numerical id to use for a particular domain? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
