https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=303857 Summary: Installation on DM-RAID fails due to missing packages "kpartx" and "dmraid" Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: aosthof@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Development If one tries to install openSUSE 10.3 Beta 2 on a device mapper raid (aka fake raid aka bios raid), the installation fails while "Finishing Basic Installation". An error message pops up saying: An error occured during initrd creation. Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22.3-7-default Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.22.3-7-default Root device: /dev/mapper/nvidia_eeifagch_part3 (mounted on / as ext3) cp: cannot stat `/etc/udev/rules.d/70-kpartx.rules': No such file or directory Script /lib/mkinitrd/setup/51-kpartx.sh failed! You may now have to update your boot loader configuration. A screenshot of this error message will be attached. Taking a closer look reveals that both necessary packages "kpartx" and "dmraid" are missing: inst-sys:~ # df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/nvidia_eeifagch_part3 10325780 3402620 6398640 35% /mnt /dev/mapper/nvidia_eeifagch_part1 101086 11447 84420 12% /mnt/boot inst-sys:~ # rpm -q --root=/mnt kpartx package kpartx is not installed inst-sys:~ # rpm -q --root=/mnt dmraid package dmraid is not installed Selecting those 2 missing packages in the initial package selection solves the problem. IMHO it should be a problem related to patterns. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
