https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=254751 Summary: Laptop Suspend-to-RAM problems with latest KPowersave Update Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: behlert@novell.com ReportedBy: ammulder@chariotsolutions.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I recently received an automatic update to KPowerSave with much-needed configuration settings. Yay! However, since installing this update... Every time my laptop wakes up from suspend, it has the following dialog on the screen: "Could not umount external media before suspend/standby. (Reason: an unknown error occured) Would you like to continue to suspend/standby anyway? (Warning: continuing suspend can cause data loss!) _ Do not ask again [Suspend Anyway] [Cancel Suspend]" There are all kinds of problems here: * For some reason it now spins up the CD-ROM while preparing to suspend * It has already suspended and resumed by the time I see this dialog, so clearly the dialog is in error * I tried checking the box for "do not ask again" and then hitting "Cancel suspend". The effect of this is that when I suspend my laptop and then resume it, it immediately suspends again. The second resume works normally. It seems clear that checking the box means "always suspend" not "always apply whatever button I will click next" (I wanted it to "always cancel"). And it's obvious that it doesn't take effect until after resume. Anyway, I found the setting to take out of my kpowersaverc to eliminate the "do not ask again", but now I have to click "Cancel suspend" on the dialog box every time I resume. I would like the old behavior back where I never saw this dialog and everything worked fine! If not that, I want to be able to check a box saying "always cancel suspend" instead of "always suspend". If not, I at least think the dialog should appear before suspend, not after resume. It may require that you have a data CD in your CD-ROM drive to reproduce this (in any case, I do). FWIW, my laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T60p. I do not have any other external devices (USB drives, etc.) attached, though the laptop has several internal devices that are connected via USB (an airprime modem, bluetooth, fingerprint reader, etc.). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
