[Bug 241368] /var/log/messages flooded with "over-current change on port {5,6}" messages

------- Comment #20 from mfabian@xxxxxxxxxx 2007-02-13 19:07 MST -------
The PCI card with the 5 port USB hub arrived and I tried it today.
Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem because my machine didn't
even boot anymore when the card was installed.

The last messages which showed up on the console while booting had
something to do with

" USB device found..."

Then the boot process stopped. Apparently the machine was completely
frozen because I could not toggle the Numlock LED with the Numlock Key
anymore. This was possible during the boot process until the time
when the boot process stopped when it became impossible (I tried that
a few times, it was repeatable).

Then I removed the card again because I needed the computer.

I have been told that removing some other cards (for example a SCSI adapter
I don't need anymore) and trying other PCI slots might make a difference.
I'll try that tomorrow.
