Summary: hplip doesn't byte-compile its Python code
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Alpha 0plus
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Printing
AssignedTo: jsmeix@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: andreas.hanke@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: jsmeix@xxxxxxxxxx

After uninstalling hplip, lots of unpackaged .pyc files are left behind:

/usr/share/hplip/
/usr/share/hplip/base
/usr/share/hplip/base/__init__.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/g.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/codes.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/logger.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/msg.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/utils.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/pexpect.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/device.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/status.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/pml.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/service.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/models.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/mdns.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/slp.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/strings.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/base/async.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/prnt
/usr/share/hplip/prnt/__init__.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/prnt/pcl.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/prnt/ldl.pyc
/usr/share/hplip/prnt/cups.pyc

This is caused by the fact that hplip does not have the .pyc files in its file
lists. Therefore they are created at run-time, but not removed when
uninstalling the package because the package manager doesn't know about them.
