Thanks, Francis. The present workaround catches ATI cards with max res
1280x1024. Your card BIOS supports display resolutions up to 1600x1200.
At least the 1400x1050 one will likely work with your monitor.

I don't know why ATI apparently chooses an interlaced timing for 1280x1024
on *some* boards. If I get more reports like yours, it might be necessary
to disable that resoution for ATI completely (but my radeon 7500 works
nicely, for example).

For now, I'll leave the code unchanged.
