Just to show you that this approach is a little too easy ...

Network installation is even more often used on internal networks. How should
YaST check if the network is reachable? What is "the network"? A ping to would result in an error message, if the machine has no internet
connection but the installation server is on the intranet.
Yes, for your special case a ping to would suffice - but a button
"Test Network connection" assumes that it can check anything.
So for such a check the user would have to define what to check exactly.

If you have a typo, no DHCP, no DNS server provided, no route, no IP address or
whatever ... you would fall back to the beginning anyway and are prompted to
reenter the data.

That is easier to understand and less confusing for the user.
