https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231218 teheo@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|ASSIGNED |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED ------- Comment #11 from teheo@novell.com 2007-01-30 22:17 MST ------- This bug was introduced with the patch to fix #207939. The ported patch was incomplete in that it contained pci_device_id entries for JMB controllers but no generic_chipsets[] entry for added devices. This causes generic to reference beyond generic_chipsets[] array when JMB controllers are present. On a good day, it's all null and probing silently fails. On a bad day, it's an oops. The attached patch does the followings. 1. add respective generic_chipsets[] entries for JMB controllers. 2. fix init_one() to avoid disabling JMB368 incorrectly. The patch is tested on JMB363 and 368 controllers and also has been in upstream for quite some time. This fix is critical as the kernel might oops on all machines which have JMB controllers with PATA port present. Patch is committed to SLES10_GA_BRANCH. Mike, the next update shouldn't have the problem and give you access to PATA ports on your JMicron controller.
