This ships with the binary ati fglrx drivers...

I will try what you have suggested, currently downloading that kernel and it's
source.

PS: My laptop does not hold it's charge very well and when I disconnect my AC
there's a high pitched noise from the laptop. I went to my local HP authorized
repair center and they've ordered a new battery and motherboard for me. This
should arrive next week hopefully so it should be interesting to see the
results under the new parts.
