Can you check for latest BIOS pls. If this fixes it this is a duplicate of bug #175702
What I did was edit /etc/sysconfig/powersave/common and change ACPI_MODULES="" to ACPI_MODULES="ac batter fan button processor" leaving thermal out. This seems to work. I can boot with powersaved enabled.
If it does not fix your problem you might hit bug #179702, then please follow latest comments of bug #179702 and try one of these kernels: ftp.suse.com/pub/people/trenn/hp_fixes_final If you installed and booted this one, try to boot it several times and do not boot another/broken one in between. So best, disable powersaved, install and boot above kernel. Reboot this kernel again and enable powersaved. If it is still shutting down please attach acpidump of latest BIOS.
Well no luck here with this kernel. I could only get around it by doing what I did above and keeping thermal out. Btw I am using the latest bios (F.14). Attached is my acpidump.
