https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228978 Summary: Rough edges in yast software management Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: martin.schlander@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Using the openSUSE package management pattern package management is very nice. But there are still a few rough edges that should be fixed for 10.3 - or maybe even sooner. - YaST software management calls all kinds of media "CD1" - whether they're DVDs, ftp-sources or other, it confuses users and gives an unprofessional impression. - The inst-source module should not refresh repos on startup. - The automatic locking of packages is a steady cause for irritation when updating, resolving deps etc. because you have to manually unlock them. - With zypper you can assign an alias to repos, don't think this is possible with the yast module, it would be very nice - error messages like "cannot refresh 20061205-114546" does not make it immediately clear which repo causes problems. - It seems to me that if you disable a source but leave refresh on, the source will be refreshed anyway, that doesn't seem intuitive and smart. - If I'm not mistaken yast is relatively slow to start because it caches package descriptions unlike most other pms, would be nice if this behaviour could be optional, don't know if it's feasible at all though. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
