I assume you have the lastest updates right ? if not, you should. these Zen
tools are well know broken.

ZenWorks is not required for SUSE to work you can always remove it.

rpm -e libzypp-zmd-backend zmd zen-updater suseRegister rug (reccomended)

or disable zmd

rczmd off && chkconfig novell-zmd off
(yes as you can see, even the init scripts are inconsistency named)

that will stop eating your resources. (I clearly understand your problem
beacuse I had the same issue) Yast will continue to work without issues.

About beagle, I always wondered why it is included by default, we don't need
it.

you have two choices

1. remove beagle and kerry (reccommended)
2. as your user.. "touch ~/.dontrunbeagle" and the nexx time beagle will not
start.
