Summary: zen-updater slows machine to a crawl
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Zenworks
AssignedTo: zlm-code10-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: aaronw@xxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: jtariq@xxxxxxxxxx

The Zen Updater seems to start up regularly in the background and brings my
Athlon64 3700+ system with 2GB of ram to a grinding halt while it runs for long
periods of time (currently going for 10+ minutes). For one thing, since it is
a background process, it should be configured to run at nice -19 and ionice -c
3 so as to have less of an impact on the running system. However, the primary
problem is there is no reason it should take so long to run on my system, even
though I have added the KDE repositories. Zen and Beagle are my two biggest
complaints about SuSE. Both slow my system to a crawl when they run.
Furthermore, they seem a large amount of memory.
