https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=204360 Summary: Midnight Commander dropped from standard package selection Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: david.wright@wright-is.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com With all versions up to 10.2, Midnight Commander has been part of the standard selection for installation. I use it for configuring from the command line (especially mcedit) and when talking new users through configuring, I always get them to use mc and mcedit to edit files and locate files, as these are incredibly easy to use and navigate (compared to vi and emacs, which are powerful, but user unfriendly). I notice with 10.2 that MC is now an optional install. Is it possible to move it back into one of the default utilities/power user patterns? I can install it when I think about it, but by the time new users require a simple text editor with onscreen prompts, it is probably too late... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-bugs+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-bugs+help@opensuse.org
