Most of these things should be more generic and also re-used over several versions. Maybe the countdown banners could be inspired by the upcoming distro design.

Yes and no. A standardized slide presentation template for use at all times would definitely be good. But there is also the need for a theme-based template that incorporates the artwork around release time. During this general period, of about 1 month prior and 1 month after release date, there's an increased amount of presenting out there by Ambassadors specifically to promote the release. Having the artwork in the background makes for a very good presentation design. Countdown banner, we agree. :-) Web banners, essentially are an offshoot of the countdown banners, and used in places where the countdown banner will not work. (For example, You cannot post the countdown banner on Facebook.) Web banners are also useful for promoting catch phrases that the marketing team might be developing to promote that particular release. Those catch phrases really can't be incorporated into Countdown because it would just be too cluttered.
