Actually, now that you put it this way, why don't be make something like a pool of good photographers from all over the NET and then contact them one by one and see if they are interested in helping out. This is what we could offer them: Every now and then we would go through their portfolio and choose a few images we like for wallpaper. We will then contact them regarding each of those images and request to release those to us under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License ( http://creativecommons.org/choose/results-one?q_1=3D2&q_1=3D1&field_commerc= ial=3Dy&field_derivatives=3Dsa&field_jurisdiction=3D&field_format=3DStillIm= age&field_worktitle=3D&field_attribute_to_name=3D&field_attribute_to_url=3D= &field_sourceurl=3D&field_morepermissionsurl=3D&lang=3Den_US&n_questions=3D= 3) which will allow us to use the artwork in our distro, including commercial derivatives (this must be explicitly explained to an author) and modify it (share alike clause). We however, under the CCASA license will clearly display the image attribution via tiny [name and web-address] string in the bottom-right corner of an image. I'm sure people will like this, especially if we word the email carefully enough, making sure there are no hidden "costs" to us and to them.
