[opensuse-artwork] Improving the default wallpaper

Dear OpenSUSE artwork members, At our last IRC gathering we have chosen a new default wallpaper for the next release of the OS, and I took on a task of preparing it for the release. I took a shot at it and I think it's looking a little better. Now there aren't that many changes done, but for what I did here is an account with explanations: a) the overall color tone was adjusted - the original had a nice "old photo" look to it due to slightly washed palette used; very nice touch in itself, but I'm not sure we want a brand new release to look somewhat "washed" b) texture was added to compensate for Inkscape gradient deficiency (Inkscape can not do perfect gradients, using step algorithm instead) c) the shapes were smoothed out - purely cosmetic touch to make them look even more lightray-like There may be a few more tweaks I'll put on this, or Andy may come with an idea to make it even better. Heya all, You might have read that GSOC 2012 is going to happen again: http://news.opensuse.org/2012/02/29/opensuse-gsoc-2012/ We need to tell students that they need to be HERE, with US! So we need a nice GSOC poster. Now google has made artwork for GSOC 2012: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0Z4BTG1iJDs/TyG9uyApFrI/AAAAAAAAAhY/raFJlaZqdes/s… I slapped a geeko on it but that's of course not good enough :D So, who can design some poster which can be used at conferences and universities to get students into GSOC 2012? I was thinking about taking google's image on the bottom of a poster, adding the blue on top and having some text there, see my crazy drawing here: http://susepaste.org/13964893 Something like that... Hi all, I know I've said I would take care of the KDM theme, but sadly I do not find the time. I would suggest to use the same shape as for the ksplash theme (maybe a bit larger). And please do not forget to add userlist support in some kind of form. Hey friends We have a small mission today. In this email there are two images that represent arrows for a small slideshow that will be placed on the page for openSUSE Summit this year. However, the arrows are far from finished and need some cosmetics before we place it on the website. Can you take charge of creating a couple of arrows for this website? If there are no takers I can do it myself but I am sure that you guys can be a lot better in creating these graphics. Hello, I am working on the openSUSE summit website. And in I am in need of some openSUSE summit related artwork. Its basically for the slider on the homepage. I have a jquery slider on the homepage and the dimensions of the images should be 940px - 240px . Is that doable ? :) Also, I was thinking of having a header image for rest of the pages. For example 1) CFP Submissions (940px - 240px) which should be openSUSE summit related theme 2) Talks (940px - 240px) which should be openSUSE summit related theme 3) Media/Press (940px - 240px) which should be openSUSE summit related theme 4) Contact (940px - 240px) which should be openSUSE summit related theme 5) and so on. In short openSUSE summit theme image for almost every page.Let me know what do you guys think about this idea. Is that doable? If so that would be really cool. The topics aren't implemented yet so I cant say anything as of now. But if you guys are willing to do it, I will send in a list of topics for which I will be needing the openSUSE summited themed header images.
