Does this look alright to you? Suggestions for improvement? Thanks for your help! Tim --- Charles Marcus <CMarcus@Media-Brokers.com> wrote:
Hi All,
I run SUSE 9.3 on an AMD64 processor and ASUS A8N-E motherboard with 1 GB RAM memory on it. The performance in terms of computation is fairly ok but I am disappointed in the overall user-speed. E.g. KDE starts up fairly slow (say 30-40 seconds) and most other applications start up considerably slower

on my PIII with similar specs. Even starting up a terminal requires some waiting (which is pretty much instantaneous on my PIII).
Sounds to me like maybe your hard drive is not running in UDMA mode? What does hdparm tell you?
